I will suggest you just three rules to get the best score in January attempt:
75% Rule: Aim to finish at least 75% of the syllabus before January attempt. You have my permission to skip 25% of the syllabus (hard topics that you cannot crack). This will ensure you score at least 60-65% marks, which is more than 99%. This will ensure that you get a nice college via JEE Main, and you won’t have to prepare for JEE April.
Ignore JEE Advanced: Until your JEE Main January is over, you should totally ignore JEE Advanced and focus only on covering as much syllabus as possible. No need to solve very hard problems, just basic JEE Main tier problems are good enough. Why? Because if you focus 100% on JEE Main January, you will be free from April attempt (as you already have a great college in bag), and will have 4-5 months to prepare just for JEE Advanced. And likely, your JEE April will anyway go well as you are preparing for JEE Advanced!
Remove all mental barriers. Just because you didn’t do well so far does not mean you will do bad in future as well. Just because you are not scoring as well as other students right now does not mean you will not score well in the final exam. Your past does not define you. If you work hard in the next few months, you can clear the exam as well as any other aspirant. This is the most important part of JEE Prep, and if you do this part well you can cover up all the mistakes you did in 11th and 12th so far.
That’s it, hope it helped.
